It is typically the NG2 board, which burns out a resistor (R143). I recently replaced the resistor on one unit and it fixed the problem. The NG2 board cost between $500-$600. If the fault is intermittent it may be that the outlet for condensed water may be blocked, if this is the case then the heater will trip as the water builds up to prevent shorting.
